28 Sep 2005

Seoul, Korea  [2005-09-28]

(Seoul, Korea, September 28, 2005) Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC; NYSE: SMI and HKSE: 981) will hold its inaugural technology symposium in Seoul, Korea on September 30th, 2005. Similar to the symposium held last month in Beijing, China, the symposium in Korea is aimed at IC designers, customers, technology partners, and equipment vendors. In particular, SMIC has invited many Korean IC companies to attend the symposium in order for them to gain a better understanding of SMIC's services and technologies.

In conjunction with the technology symposium, SMIC will also make its debut at the 2005 Korea Semiconductor & Display Exhibition (SEDEX). A key event for the Korea semiconductor industry, SEDEX is expected to attract more than 11,000 visitors and 150 exhibitors, including many SMIC customers. Among SMIC's booth displays will be an advanced 12-inch wafer made from SMIC's Fab 4 in Beijing.

Visitors can find SMIC at booth 520 of Pacific Hall in Seoul's COEX Center for the duration of SEDEX from September 28-30.
