SMIC's fab 2 and fab 3B achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification

(Shanghai, China, April 24, 2003) Semiconductor Manufacturing International (Shanghai) Corporation (SMIC) announced its fab2 and fab3B, with full support from all staff members and employees, have passed the ISO 9001:2000 audit by the British Standard Institute (BSI) on the March 21, 2003.
With this award, all of SMIC fabs in Shanghai (Fab1, 2 and 3B) have achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification with zero-defect performance. This is important in SMIC’s development as a world-class foundry and enables SMIC to build all business on the foundation of normative and all-around quality management standard, ensuring customers highly efficient services, with which SMIC can serve our customers with leading-technology more effectively than before.
ISO9001: 2000 is a global quality standard published by the ISO (International Organization of Standardization). This revised 2000 standard places more emphasis on customer’s needs and satisfaction, continuous improvements and results, as well as effectiveness and efficiency of the quality management system, so as to smooth business operation.
With SMIC’s continuous development, our customer base is increasingly expanding. A highly effective enterprise management system and good customer service support are the key for further development.
