SMIC has successfully connected with Applied Materials through the implementation of RosettaNet e-Business Standards

(Shanghai, China, April 28, 2003) Semiconductor Manufacturing International (Shanghai) Corporation (SMIC) today announced that Applied Materials China and SMIC have taken their trading relationship to a new level with the first ever production implementation of Rosetta Net e-business standards.
In late March 2003, both companies successfully implemented PIP 3A4, automating order processes and enable real-time data exchange between the two companies. This achievement paves the way for Applied Materials and SMIC to further enhance supply chain integration and lower transaction costs. With more implantations are expected in the near future, both parties will be greatly benefited from the newly established E-commerce mechanism.
