SMIC held the 11th Donation Ceremony of the "SMIC Liver Transplant Program"

On the afternoon of October 18, 2023, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) convened its 11th Donation Ceremony of the "SMIC Liver Transplant Program" in Renji Hospital. As of this year, nearly 45 million yuan has been donated, enabling 792 underprivileged children from across the nation to access crucial medical treatments.

Senior Vice President of SMIC, Dr. Li Yourong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Shanghai Renji Hospital, Ms. Min Jianying, and Director of the Foundation Department of the China Soong Ching-ling Foundation, Ms. Song Jian, all delivered notable remarks during the ceremony. During the event, parents of the young patients presented SMIC and other supportive corporate representatives with gifts as heartfelt tokens of their appreciation.

In April 2013, SMIC, in collaboration with the China Soong Ching-ling Foundation and Shanghai Renji Hospital, initiated the "SMIC Liver Transplant Program"to fund underprivileged children suffering from end-stage liver disease requiring liver transplantation.Over the years,the program has expanded into a widely recognized public welfare initiative. It now brings together not only SMIC’s dedicated employees but also many enterprises in the integrated circuit industry and compassionate individuals from all walks of life.

This year, SMIC, together with its dedicated workforce of over 2,000employees, has contributed 2.36 million yuan to the project. At the same time, a record 115 companies have generously responded with donations totaling 2.78 million yuan, the highest number of participating companies in the program’s history. To date, the project has received nearly 45 million yuan, enabling 792 children to undergo surgery and recover their health.

Li Yourong, Senior Vice President of SMIC, has emphasized that SMIC, as a leader in the integrated circuit industry, has always upheld people-centric principles and is committed to giving back to society through tangible actions. In recent years, amidst a backdrop of ever-evolving external challenges, SMIC has stepped up to its social responsibilities. Beyond spearheading the "SMIC Liver Transplant Program", the company has taken the lead in, as well as participated in, numerous public welfare projects. Using its strengths, SMIC has earnestly assisted in helping those in need, fostering and radiating positive societal energy. In this new era, we must continue our work together and actively make contributions towards the advancement of high-quality development in China.

Min Jianying, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Shanghai Renji Hospital, stated that since the launch of the children's liver transplantation project at Renji Hospital, it has garnered the attention of many friends and compassionate individuals in society. Thanks to the collective goodwill, efforts and love of all involved, the project has achieved substantial growth and significant advancements. It is a privilege for us as healthcare professionals to make contributions within our means to the health of children. At the same time, we recognize the heavy responsibility on our shoulders. We are committed to converting this pressure into drive and vow to be steadfast guardians for thesechildren.

Song Jian, Director of the Foundation Department of China Soong Ching-ling Foundation, expressed that children's health is intrinsically linked to family happiness and the future prosperity of the nation.
