Chinese chip foundry Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC) said it signed an agreement last week with IBM Corp. to collaborate on 28nm manufacturing technology.
SMIC did not disclose how much it would pay IBM, other than to say the amount would have no material financial impact on the company.
SMIC has already announced it had begun development of 28nm technology. SMIC previously licensed process technology from IBM at the 45- and 32nm nodes.
