SMIC Participates in SEMICON China 2007

Shanghai, China, March 21, 2007 - Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation ("SMIC", NYSE: SMI and HKSE: 0981.HK) is currently participating at SEMICON China 2007 from March 21 through 23 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC).

SEMICON China 2007 is co-organized by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Institute (SEMI) and China Electronic Chamber of Commerce (CECC), and the three-day event and conference is mostly about Semiconductor manufacturing technology. Meanwhile the second IC Design Suppliers Pavilion organized by Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA) and Shanghai IC Association (SICA) is again in Conjunction with SEMICON China. The event and conference is expected to attract over 1100 exhibitors and over 30,000 visitors.

SMIC is participating in SEMICON China for a forth consecutive year, showcasing its latest technologies and product offerings. Some items on display in SMIC's booth include 90nm masks, 90nm Logic & 90nm DRAM wafers,300mm silicon wafers as well as samples of 3G TD-SCDMA and CMOS image sensor chips, etc.

In addition, Richard Chang, SMIC President and CEO also presents a keynote speech of “The new era of China’s Semiconductor industry”.
